When Christian Jones (Cheech) was just two years old he was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome, a rare and chronic kidney disease that causes his kidneys to stop working. His battle with NS has been long, hard and relentless. Eight years ago a group of moms that know and love Cheech wanted to do something to help raise awareness and funds to find a cure for Cheech and so the Bay Area NephCure walk was created. In the last eight years with the help of other amazing patient families and friends we have raised over $500,000. This money all benefits NephCure Kidney International — the only organization committed to finding the cause and cure for Nephrotic Syndrome. We have also met some other amazing patient families along the way.
So what started as a neighborhood fundraiser walk has turned into the Silicon Valley Pig Jig (SVPJ). The SVPJ is a community amateur BBQ competition with live music, great food and a fun time for the entire family all benefiting NephCure Kidney International.
